Medication Policy
Only a physician is legally authorized to prescribe medication, this includes over the counter medication. If at all possible medication should be given at home before or after school hours. A student who needs to take any medication during school hours must have a signed permission slip from parent/guardian and the physician. Medication (in a pharmacy labeled bottle) is kept locked in the Health Office and taken under the supervision of the nurse.
CHILDREN ARE NOT ALLOWED TO TRANSPORT ANY MEDICATION, INCLUDING OVER-THE-COUNTER MEDICINES. The only exception: students at NRHS and the middle schools are allowed to carry their own epi-pen and/or inhaler (with written permission from their parent/guardian and school nurse.)
